Pacific Century Group’s new insurance company is renamed FWD Macau

FWD (“the Company”), the insurance businesses of Pacific Century Group, is pleased to announce that the relevant authorities in Macau have approved the Company’s name change in Macau to FWD, in Chinese, 富衛. ING Life Insurance Company (Macau) Limited is now known as FWD Life Insurance Company (Macau) Limited. The Hong Kong and Thailand businesses of FWD, namely FWD Hong Kong and FWD Thailand, were also unveiled on August 14, 2013 and August 28, 2013 respectively.

“We are excited for the launch of FWD Macau brand, and aspire to becoming a major force in the industry as we look to move insurance in a new direction.” said David Wong, Chief Executive Officer of FWD Hong Kong and Macau, adding “The new brand name is simple, easy to remember, and it reflects our commitment to always working proactively in the best interests of our customers, our business partners, and our staff.”

In Chinese, 富衛 represents safety and wealth protection, which are essential for our customers.

David added, “We continue to see opportunities in Macau, as the local economy sees sustained growth through its thriving tourism and gaming industries. With FWD, we will accommodate the needs of our local customers by focusing on improving our customer experience and developing innovative products.”

To commemorate the launch of the new brand, a celebration luncheon was held in Macau Tower, which was attended by a representative of the Monetary Authority of Macao, along with FWD’s business partners, wealth planners and staff. In addition, a decorated bus with FWD’s logo toured the Macau streets, introducing the new FWD brand to the local public.
